Disney dominates new ‘Wreck-It Ralph 2’ trailer

The new trailer for Wreck-It Ralph 2 dropped today and delivered more flashy color as a video game character explores a strange new world of search engines, apps, and Disney Princesses.

Set six years after the events of the first film, the story focuses on Ralph (John C. Reilly) and Vanellope (Sarah Silverman) taking on a new world: the World Wide Web. Along the way, they encounter new customs, worlds and characters.

In the trailer, you can see clips of what the duo see as they journey into the information super highway: a land filled with little blue birds (Twitter), a huge floating apparatus for shoppers (Amazon) and a website that Vanellope calls “super intense and really nuts.” This takes then to Oh My Disney. And Oh My Disney is right. Everything under the Disney umbrella is represented: from Pixar to Star Wars to Marvel. What really gets Vanellope is all the princesses and cartoon characters – including Snow White, Moana, Cinderella, Pocahantas, Elsa, Rapunzel, Belle, and Aurora. Vanellope gets the pleasure of meeting these iconic female characters after escaping from Stormtroopers.

While the princesses (all voiced by the living actresses who originally lent their voices to the characters years ago) are distrustful of the Sugar Rush racing video game princess, their interactions with the newcomer is hilarious as the group ask what makes Vanellope a princess. Going over all the tropes that have surrounded the Disney Princess tiara for years – including curses, imprisonment, powers, etc – Vanellope makes the cut by answering one important question:

“Do people assume all your problems got solved because a big, strong man showed up?” asks Rapunzel (voiced by Mandy Moore).

“Yes, what is up with that!” answers Vanellope.

This interaction could be epic to watch and just laugh.

I had a lot of fun when I finally watched Wreck-It Ralph, reminding me why I fell in love with such characters and movies to begin with. I have high hopes this movie will follow in the same footsteps.
