In 2010, I was still in college but I felt like a child again as Disney/Pixar created another installment in the franchise that began their partnership in 1995. Toy Story 3 was an animated masterpiece. It brought tears to my eyes as I reflected on that time in all our lives where we have to let our action figures or dolls go as we grow up and move on to bigger adventures. It was the perfect ending to the Toy Story franchise.
At least I thought it was the end.
The official synopsis of the film reads: ” Woody has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called ‘Forky’ to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the wold can be for a toy.”
The trailer shows the new character named Forky that Bonnie made out of a disposable spork. Obviously, it looks as thought he’s having trouble with his new friends as he faces a crisis. He wants to fulfill his purpose as a spork but has a new toy purpose thrust upon him, not just by Bonnie but also by Woody and the gang.
From the footage, it looks like Forky can kill an otherwise happy moment with the rest of the group. While I’m not a huge fan of a series continuing after the previous installment has obviously closed the book on the franchise, I’ll be in the lines with all the other 20 to 30 somethings and other children.
Let’s see what else these toys can get into. Toy Story 4 opens in theaters on June 21, 2019.
