With the release date moving up a week, a new trailer had to be released for the upcoming Marvel ensemble film. And the superhero powerhouse franchise did not disappoint today.
Two years after the Avengers were torn apart by the events of Captain America: Civil War, Thanos (Josh Brolin) arrives on Earth in order to collect the Infinity Stones for a gauntlet that will allow him to bend reality to his will. The Avengers much reassemble and join forces with the Guardians of the Galaxy to stop him before his onslaught of destruction puts an end to the universe.
This trailer gives us more Thanos than the previous one, watching him face off against our heroes while on his quest for the stones that have been spread about the Marvel films for the last decade. Gamora (Zoe Saldana) is one of the only heroes that knows the inner workings of the Mad Titan, giving the good guys (and the audience) only a glimpse into her adoptive father’s mind. Is that also a flashback we get of young Gamora with Thanos?!
We see Tony Stark’s (Robert Downey Jr) new Iron Man suit in action as he races to catch up with a spaceship going into the atmosphere. A weary-looking Captain America (fully bearded Chris Evans) has reunited with former allies Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), War Machine (Don Cheadle), The Falcon (Anthony Mackie), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), and others as they come to Wakanda, seeking the help of T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman).
And the interaction between Star Lord/Peter Quill (Chris Pratt), Spider-Man (Tom Holland), Drax (Dave Batista), and Iron Man discussing the plan of attack is what we’ve all waited for; seeing all of them in the same scene! Come on, now! We also get the first look at Thanos’ team, known as the Black Order.
It’s obvious that the heroes will fight together and make their stand in Wakanda, but from the tone, we might lose some heroes along the way. That shot of Captain America trying to hold back against Thanos’ attack…just throwing it out there.
Avengers: Infinity War comes out in April 27. Tickets are available by the way. I already have mine. Is anyone surprised?
